                  Dharavi

Dharavi is a sprawling slum located in the heart of Mumbai, India. With a population of over 1 million people, it is one of the largest and most densely populated slums in Asia. Despite its challenges, Dharavi has emerged as a thriving economic hub, with a diverse range of industries and businesses operating within its boundaries.

History of Dharavi

Dharavi's history dates back to the 19th century, when it was a small fishing village. Over time, it evolved into a major industrial and residential hub, attracting migrants from all over India. Today, Dharavi is a melting pot of cultures, with people from different regions and backgrounds living and working together.

Dharavi is home to a thriving informal economy, with industries such as recycling, leather production, pottery, and textiles. The slum is known for its entrepreneurial spirit, with many residents starting their own businesses and generating employment opportunities for others. Dharavi is recycling most of plastic of Mumbai. We can see plastic recycling items more of there. Only 15% are unemployed.

Challenges Faced by Dharavi

Despite its economic success, Dharavi faces numerous challenges, including overcrowding, poor sanitation, and limited access to basic amenities like healthcare and education. The slum is also vulnerable to natural disasters like floods, which can have devastating consequences for its residents. Basic things are not provided to them. If any time we travel to them we will heard lot's of emotions of people living there. Overall we can say dharavi is fighting for its basic survival not for its economic conditions. The media who has responsibilities to show the reality of this type of society is not interested anymore in real story all the information we are getting by some articles or YouTube videos .

Efforts to Improve Dharavi

In recent years, the government and non-governmental organizations have launched initiatives to improve living conditions in Dharavi. These efforts include slum rehabilitation projects, infrastructure development, and social programs aimed at promoting education and healthcare. Thanks to social media from which they have been noticed and getting Little bit of importance. All this promotion is good no doubt but some people of dharavi will be shifted to another slum area for its rehabilitation program. Is it good for them.

Dharavi is a complex and dynamic community that is both a challenge and an opportunity. While it faces numerous problems, it is also a testament to the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of its residents.
